Established in 1980, Swagman Hotel takes pride of being located at the heart of what it describes as the most exciting part of Manila city: Ermita. Through the years, Swagman has been dubbed as the “Australia hotel in Manila” for being visited by mostly Australian visitors and for specializing in arranging tours from Australia to the Philippines, and vice versa. It has been accredited by the local Department of Tourism as a “first-class economy hotel” for its international-standard services that come with pocket-friendly price tags.

Highlights

Swagman’s nearness to the domestic and international airports, as well as to Manila’s nightlife, major shopping malls, casinos, restaurants and pubs, might make it a good candidate for a stopover, before heading to your next big adventure in the Philippines or beyond.

The hotel’s rooms, which range from economy to executive, come with standard or king-size beds, TV with DVD player, mini bar, hot and cold shower, side table, and coffee/tea making facilities. The hotel might be accepting only couples and not families, but it provides complimentary manicure and free 15 minutes of Internet access at its café. The hotel also has its own travel agency that can help travelers with booking tours, visa extensions, and renting a car.

The hotel’s restaurant, Australian Outback Café, serves Aussie food alongside Philippine favorites. The café particularly takes pride of its beer and wine imported from all over the world, making it a good launching pad in exploring Manila’s diverse nightlife.
