Situated at the crossroads of Manila and the provinces of Batangas and Cavite, Parañaque struggles to take off from its residential roots through attracting several call center companies, although this has also brought in an increase in street crimes. Some call center agents working during graveyard shifts have fallen victims to robbery. Despite the crimes, Parañaque has attracted some of the country’s rich and famous to live in its gated communities like BF Homes, where there are available houses for rent.
Sports and entertainment
Apart from having the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Parañaque is home to Casino Filipino and Asia World City, the venue of Michael Jackson’s History World Tour concert. The Elorde Boxing Sports Center in Sucat and the Rod Nozario Boxing Gym are the breeding grounds of Manny Pacquiao and other boxing idols.

There are also several dining and shopping options in Parañaque. Among these are Duty Free, SM City Bicutan, SM City Sucat, Dampa at Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Shopwise Sucat, Pure Gold Sucat, and Pergola Lifestyle Mall.
Pilgrimage site
Parañaque’s Baclaran Redemptorist Church is among the Philippines’ largest and most active churches. Devotees flock there to hear mass every Wednesday, feast of the Mother of Perpetual Help.
